Marsha Sharp is a former basketball coach, best known for her successful coaching career at Texas Tech University. She was born on August 27, 1952, in Turkey, Texas.
Sharp became the head coach of the Texas Tech Lady Raiders in 1982 and went on to coach the team for 24 seasons. During her tenure, she led the Lady Raiders to multiple conference championships and a national championship in 1993. She was also named the National Coach of the Year in 1993.
In addition to her coaching success, Sharp was known for her commitment to promoting women's athletics and empowering female athletes. She was instrumental in advocating for gender equity in college sports and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
After retiring from coaching in 2006, Marsha Sharp has continued to be involved in women's sports advocacy and serves as a motivational speaker and mentor for aspiring coaches and athletes.
